NOVA FCSH has been organising Portuguese as a Foreign Language courses since 1997. These courses are open to both students and staff of NOVA University Lisbon, as well as to the general public, attracting over 750 students from around the world each year.

The Portuguese as a Foreign Language courses are part of the Lifelong Learning Centre – Luís Krus Centre (CLK) and are coordinated scientifically and pedagogically by the Department of Linguistics. The courses are delivered by a dedicated and highly qualified teaching team.

In addition to offering language courses, NOVA FCSH administers Portuguese language proficiency exams, including the exams of the Centre for the Assessment and Certification of Portuguese as a Foreign Language (CAPLE) and the A2 level exam for candidates applying to the Erasmus+ programme at NOVA FCSH.
