  • Each proficiency level (A2, B1, B2) has two classes: Group A and Group B. Each group is limited to 8 students; students register and attend one group only.

Synchronous classes: 20 sessions, Mondays to Fridays, 1 hour per day

Asynchronous learning: 30 hours, 1.5 hours per day

Credits: 6

Course description: This course is designed to foster students’ communicative skills in Portuguese. Every day, students participate in two types of learning activities, synchronous (one hour per day) and asynchronous (1.5 hours per day). During synchronous sessions, students join their tutor and classmates for an hour via videoconferencing. During asynchronous sessions, students work independently or in groups. Contents and materials were designed for online teaching and learning.

  • Browser: Google Chrome, Apple Safari
  • Internet broadband connection =/> 512 kbps
  • Computer, loudspeakers, microphone (or headphones/headset), and webcam.
  • Email account

Materials will be made available to students through the university online platform.

Before registration students must take a placement test to determine their proficiency level. To take the placement test please contact with the subject ONLINE Summer placement test. The result will be sent by email in 48-72h.

Registration: after receiving the result of your placement test,  pay for the course and wait for registration instructions.

Registration will only be confirmed upon presentation of the receipt.

Course Conditions:
Each level successfully completed corresponds to 6 ECTS.
The result of the diagnostic test is not binding – in the 1st class, the teacher will reevaluate all students.
Attendance begins to count on the day the course begins, and not when the student begins attending the course.
The justification of absences is only valid upon presentation of an official document.
To receive course credit, students must successfully complete at least 80% of the assigned tasks. To receive a certificate of attendance, students must attend at least 80% of synchronous class sessions.
The number of justified absences cannot exceed the number of classes attended.
Assessment is done through direct observation in classes, homework and a final exam.
No exceptional assessment period will be offered to the students.
Classes are taught in Portuguese.
The support of teaching A1 level classes is given in English (the use of the English language is only for specific situations).
A second copy of the certificate of conclusion has an additional cost of 10€.
The payment of the course fee guarantees enrollment but does not guarantee a place at the preferred schedule.
Schedules are subject to possible changes.
